The Registrar Ready Course was run as a 2 day intensive preparatory course as a pilot in 2010, which received positive feedback.  KSS Deanery ran this again in September 2011 at the MATTU at the PostGraduate Medical School in Guildford, for all trainees who were starting their ST3 jobs in October.

The Faculty of Trainers and Senior Trainees provided a high Trainer-Trainee ratio.

Training was delivered in three Key areas:

Higher Surgical Training                     -  How to make the most of every opportunity

Essential Knowledge                           - Emergency situations, Surgical Anatomy

Essential Practical Skills                      - Surgical skills for emergencies, Endoscopic skills

Feedback from the delegates was unanimous in supporting the role and timing of this course.

As well as providing new HSTs with a springboard into their new role the course also allowed the senior trainees on the Faculty to develop their teaching and leadership skills.

attached are some slides provided on the day.
