Induction

We held our annual induction for all new Anaesthetic trainees:

DATE: Wednesday 10th August 2011 

VENUE:  The Royal College of Anaesthetists, Churchill House, 35 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4SG.

The topics covered were the Anaesthetic curriculum, training and events timetable, an introduction to the Deanery, School and to both the facilities trainees can avail themselves of (e.g. reference libraries, training days) and the support they have (Educational/Clinical Supervisors, Tutors, the Training Programme Director and of course us, the Anaesthetic team at KSS Deanery) during the programme.

This year RCOA has introduced an online e-Portfolio for new Core and Intermediate Trainees to use from 3rd August 2011. Therefore on 10th August 2011 at the RCOA there was also an 'Introduction to e-Portfolio' session with the College.

Please note:

The next Core and ST3 Induction Day will be held on 5th September 2012 for new starters beginning their Anaesthetic & ICM training on 1st August 2012. You will meet with the KSS Deanery School of Anaesthesia Head of School, RCoA Regional Advisor, Programme Directors and the Anaesthetics Admin Team.

Core Trainees

The School provides a detailed and up to date Core Training Guide to each trainee annually and 2011 Core Training Appendices to each new Core Trainee. This includes the paperwork required to start your Educational Training. For example Form R, Educational Agreement, and Appraisal Forms (please note 2011 Core Training Guide & Appendices will be posted to you before 3rd August 2011).

Please note:

Current CT2 and CT2 Trainees will be using the current 2010 Core Training Portfolio until the completion of their CT1/CT2 training. Please could all CT2 trainees continue to use the 2010 Training Portfolio to keep a record of their training; to present at their ARCP in 2012. Please see downloadable copy of the 2010 Core Training Guide, Portfolio and Appendices.

Higher Trainees 

The School will send you a 2011 Intermediate Training (ST3/4) handbook with appendices before you start your run through programme on 3rd August 2011.

Please note:

Current Intermediate trainee (ST3/4) handbook and portfolio were provided at their Induction which maps the latest 2010 curriculum. Please could all ST4 trainees continue to use their 2010 Intermediate Training Portfolio to keep a record of their training; to present at their ARCP in July 2012.
