About Us
Message from the Head of School
I am delighted to welcome you to the KSS School of Medicine, established in April 2007, dedicated to providing the highest quality of training and clinical experience across a wide range of acute Trusts. We are currently responsible for approximately 133 trainees in Core Medical training (including Military and Academic posts) and jointly with London Deanery for higher specialty medical trainees.
All our trainees have dedicated Educational Supervisors and locally organised teaching, led by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) tutor in each Trust, who meets regularly with the Head of School, fellow tutors and trainee representatives to be updated on the latest developments in training to be a physician and to ensure that high quality training occurs in every Trust.
This is a very exciting time to be training to be a physician and our programmes aim to provide a comprehensive exposure to all aspects of general medicine in Core training, preparing you for a wide range of higher medical training choices.
We have a very active Education Department in the Deanery, supporting consultants and trainees across our schools in the use of innovative teaching and assessment methods.
My own background is that I am a general physician with a special interest in the elderly and stroke and a major commitment and passion for medical education. I have been a consultant in Chichester since 1990, having qualified in 1980 from Cambridge and Guy’s.
Finally, we very much welcome feedback to ensure we continuously improve the experience we offer to current and future trainees, so please do follow the links that are throughout the School of Medicine website.
Dr Graeme Dewhurst
Head of KSS School of Medicine and RCP Regional Advisor for Training
