Thinking Partnerships for New Consultants
(Formally known as Co-Mentoring: Consultant to the Power of 2)
A fresh approach to mentoring for KSS new consultants and final year SpRs
- New to the role?
- interested in the concept of co-mentoring for effective, individually negotiated professional development?
- Want to join this innovative new scheme for consultants across KSS?
The programme comprises a series of 1:1 co-mentoring sessions linked to three development workshops during 2010. As a co-mentor, you will develop useful knowledge and skills to support a chosen colleague's professional development. You will also benefit from your colleague's support and perspective. Co-mentoring sessions conducted with your co-mentor plus the three workshops offered by KSS Deanery will initiate and support your development as a co-mentor, for which CPD points are available.
Co-mentoring offers a fresh approach to responding positively to the complex challenges and demands of balancing clinical work with management commitments. It can provide consultants with a more intelligent, empowering and sustainable perspective for dealing with day-to-day and longer-term responsibilities.
The programme is offered free of cost to all KSS new consultants (two years or less in post) and final year SpRs.
"With the new specialty training there's so little time to gain the confidence you need for the consultant's role."
"I was surprised at how solutions presented themselves without me having to generate them."
"It was great, finding out that others are in the same boat and it's not just me." "It helped with being confident about things I'd not discussed in the past."
