Qualified Educational Supervisor Programme (QESP)
Qualified Educational Supervisor Programme (QESP)
The Qualified Educational Supervisor Programme is a well-established initiative to enhance teaching quality in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The course has been developed over a twenty year period and links good supervisory practice with patient care. The newly revised course replaces the previous two-part Programme and is now offered as a combined qualification, comprising:
- The Certificate in Clinical Supervision
- The Certificate in Educational Supervision
QESP more than satisfies the new GMC standards for trainers and candidates can claim CPD points on completion of the programme.
“My practice as an Educational Supervisor has improved because of QESP. I am more organised and structured.”
“A very well-organised course and workshop which gave valuable points on teaching and learning."
Please note there is a £500 enrolment fee for all Clinical and Educational Supervisors joining QESP. This fee is a contribution towards the cost of the programme; all other expenses are met by HEKSS.
Who should apply: KSS Consultants and senior doctors who have clinical supervisor and educational supervisors and have been approved by their NHS Trust to work in these roles.
Programme Overview
The Programme begins with attendance at a one-day workshop. During the workshop participants will be introduced to some underpinning issues in teaching and learning and the characteristics of effective clinical and educational supervision. Following the workshop, candidates will be observed in their workplace in the practice of clinical and educational supervision. This will be followed up by a Professional Conversation with a Consultant Education Adviser and reflective writing.
