Recruitment now open for KSS Deanery - ICM Joint CCT Programme

Specialist Registrar Training Programme in Intensive Care Medicine Leading to a dual CCST in ICM and the base specialty

Trusts participating in the training programme include Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, and the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The training programme is modular and competency based and will be adapted to the requirements of individual trainees. Training in complementary specialties is available for those who have not undertaken it at SHO/ST1-2 level. Extended complimentary specialty training in Anaesthesia for up-to twelve months may be available. The programmes are those defined by the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Intensive Care Medicine, the requirements of which may be found at http://www.ibticm.org. The posts are open to trainees who are in years 1, 2 or 3 of a Specialist or Specialty Registrar Training Programme (SpR1-3 or ST3-5) in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Medicine or Surgery in any UK Deanery and hold a National training number (NTN). NTN holders will need the written agreement of their Postgraduate Dean to bring their training number with them. Written confirmation of this must be attached to your application.

Applicants must be registered with the GMC. Possession of MCEM, FRCA, MRCP, MRCS or professional qualification of equal standing is essential for entry to the programme. Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that the candidate provides confirmation from the Royal College and attaches this to the application. Applicants who do not provide this confirmation will not be considered for shortlisting. The Postgraduate Dean confirms that these placements and/or programmes have the required educational and Deans’ approval. The Training Programme is equally open to those who may, either from the outset or subsequently, wish to train flexibly or job share. Approval must be sought from the Deanery prior to SpR interview and this is subject to availability of suitable training placements. Applicants need to be aware that although trainees’ preferences are considered when making decisions on placements, final decisions takes into account the service needs of all sites within our training programmes.
