Clinical Leadership Fellows

The Clinical Leadership Fellows

The KSS Leadership Fellowship programme is a full time one-year out of programme activity. The purpose of this intensive and innovative programme is for the Leadership Fellows to gain a much greater experience and knowledge of leadership and management in the NHS and specifically how clinical leadership is a key driver for improving patient care, experience, safety and outcomes.

Unique to the KSS Leadership Fellowship programme is the way we have partnered a carefully structured work placement with an MSc Management (Leadership for Clinicians).

In the programme, the Leadership Fellows work alongside a very senior manager who acts as a facilitator for their leadership training within the workplace. The Fellows complete a leadership portfolio, in which they regularly reflect upon and assess their progress against the KSS Clinical Leadership Standards, which are mapped to, and go beyond, the AoMRC Medical Leadership Competency Framework (MLCF). Fellows also complete MSc modules, the assignments for which are all workplace based projects. In this way, the KSS Leadership Fellowship programme combines practical patient safety and quality improvement projects in the workplace with the achievement of an academic Masters qualification.
